Occupants, two dogs safely escape blaze in Portageville

Around 4:02 a.m. Friday, Oct. 4, the Portageville Fire Department was paged for a vehicle fire in the 600 block of East 11th Street in Portageville. When officers arrived on scene they advised dispatch the vehicle was fully involved and the fire had spread to a single-story brick home. Mutual aid from Marston assisted the Portageville Fire Department in fighting the fire. A defense attack was made to quickly suppress the fire from the exterior before firefighters made their way inside to finish extinguishing hot spots. All occupants and two dogs safely escaped the blaze. Firefighters remained on scene until around 6 a.m. At this time, the fire is being considered suspicious and will be investigated by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office.(Portageville Fire/Facebook)
