CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Steve Lynn Burton, age 64, passed away Oct. 8, 2024, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.

He was born Sept. 22, 1960, in Chaffee, Missouri, son of the late Herbert Scott Burton and Mary Edwards Burton.

Steve was raised in Morley, Missouri; he worked at Stockade Builders in Oran, Missouri, for 23 years. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and a good friend to many.

On Feb. 11, 2006, he was married to Kimberly Douglass Burton; she survives of the home in Morley.

Other survivors include: one son, Steven Scott (Mayzie) Burton of Jackson, Missouri; three daughters, Courtney (Caleb) Koehler of Marble Hill, Missouri, Tori (Corey) Drum of Millersville, Missouri, and Jessica (John) Alexander of Sikeston, Missouri; 11 grandchildren, Annistyn Koehler, Holland Koehler, Wyatt Koehler, Camden Koehler, McKayla Phillips, Timiyah Winston, Marcus Phillips, Malcom Phillips, McCoy Drum, Joey Phillips and Jake Phillips; and two sisters, Debbie Essner of Jackson, Missouri, and Lorie Daniels of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother and father, Herbert and Mary Burton; two sisters, Carolyn Coram and Linda Scott; one brother, Hubert Burton; one nephew, Scotty Burton; one son, Joe Phillips; and one grandson, Drake Phillips.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 12 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with funeral services at 3 p.m. at The Church in Morley under the direction of Ponder Funeral Home.
