EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — Henrietta Pritchett Hubbard, age 91, died Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2024, at her home in East Prairie.

She was born June 21, 1933, to the late Harley and Lena Eugenia Day Pritchett. On Nov. 23, 1955, she was united in marriage to Donald Lee Hubbard who preceded her in death on Dec. 19, 1978.

Henrietta is survived by her daughter, Donna (John) Thurman; her son, Stanley (Jama) Hubbard; grandchildren, Shane Thurman, Josh (Miranda) Thurman, Kaleb Thurman, Talia Thurman, Jessica Hubbard (Richie) Walton and Bryan Hubbard; stepgrandson, Andrew (Julie) Ambrose; great-grandchildren, Kane Thurman, Wade Thurman, Ayleigh Thurman, Beckett Walton, Savannah Thurman, Sutter Walton, and Jack Thurman; stepgranddaughters, Ryanne Ambrose and Ellie Kate Ambrose.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, brothers, Jack Pritchett and Flint Pritchett, stepbrother, Merton Pritchett, and granddaughter, Tara Don Lee Thurman.

Henrietta began teaching in one-room schools including Mounds, Yellow Dog, and Matthews before completing her 31-year career teaching first grade for 18 years at Doyle Elementary in East Prairie, retiring in 1983. She was also part-owner and President until her retirement from Stanley Muffler, Inc., a company she and her husband founded in 1971. She was an avid gardener and long-time member of the East Prairie Garden Club. She could often be found working in her yard at home or at her lake house on Kentucky Lake. She taught all of her grandchildren to fish and water ski there and loved spending time with family and friends at the lake. She was an exceptional cook and enjoyed preparing big family meals. Being Gran and G.G. was her true calling. Her grands and great-grands were the lights of her life.

Friends may assemble with the family at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, 2024, at the Dogwood Cemetery.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
