EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — Effie Louise Stewart, age 89, died Friday, Oct. 25, 2024, at her home in East Prairie.

Born July 16, 1935, at Wyatt, Missouri, to the late William Lowery and Effie Mae Blagg Lowery, she had lived in East Prairie most of her life and was retired from National Lock Company after many years of service. she loved to cook and especially spend time with her family.

In December 1971, she married James Lowell Stewart, who preceded her in death Aug. 8, 2015.

Surviving are her children, Evelyn Finadaca of Sycamore, Illinois, Shirley Mueller of Lake Placid, Florida, Debbie Tatum, Janice (Randy) Hale and Gary Tatum all of Sikeston, Denise Tatum of Murphysboro, Illinois, Diane Tatum of Carbondale, Illinois, and William D. (Marcie) Tatum of East Prairie; also, a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Pamela Darlene Hall; her grandson, Damon Tatum; and several brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Dee Hazelwood of Wickliffe, Kentucky, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
