Over 55% of Mississippi County voters cast ballots in Tuesday's General Election

CHARLESTON, Mo. — Over 50% of Mississippi County’s registered voters turned out to the polls during Tuesday’s General Election.

A total of 4,494 ballots, or 55.15%, of Mississippi County’s 8,149 registered voters cast ballots.

Mississippi County did not have any contested county races, and voters seemed to follow the state’s trends.

The following results, which were provided by the Mississippi County Clerk’s office, are unofficial.

In the race for president and vice president, the following votes were cast in Mississippi County: Donald J. Trump/JD Vance, 3,404 votes; Kamala D. Harris/Tim Walz, 1,015 votes; Chase Oliver/Mike Ter Maat, 22 votes; and Jill Stein/Rudolph Ware, 8 votes.

In the race for U.S. Senator, Josh Hawley received 3,263 votes; Lucas Kunce, 942 votes; WC Young, 52 votes; Jared Young, 64 votes; and Nathan Kline, 30 votes.

In the race for governor, Mike Kehoe received the most votes in Mississippi County with 3,381 followed by Crystal Quade, 862 votes; Bill Slantz, 59 votes; and Paul Lehmann, 57 votes.

Dave Wasinger received 3,034 votes in the race for lieutenant governor while Richard Brown netted 972 votes; Ken Iverson, 84 votes; and Danielle (Dani) Elliott, 135 votes.

In the race for secretary of state, Denny Hoskins received 3,083 votes while Barbara Phifer netted 989 votes; Carl Herman Freese had 77 votes; and Jerome Bauer garnered 67 votes.

Vivek Malek received the most votes from Mississippi County voters in the race for state treasurer with 3,009 votes followed by Mark Osmack, 959 votes; John A. Hartwig Jr., 161 votes; and Reagan Haase, 85 votes.

Andrew Bailey, 3,259 votes, received the most support from Mississippi County voters in the race for Attorney General followed by Elad Jonathan Gross, 883 votes; and Ryan Munro, 85 votes.

In the race for U.S. State Representative for District 8, Jason Smith received 3,336 votes while Randi McCallian garnered 904 votes and Jake Dawson had 77 votes.

In the race for state senator for District 25, which includes Butler, Carter, Dunklin, Mississippi, New Madrid, Oregon, Pemiscot, Ripley, Stoddard and Wayne Counties, Jason Bean received 3,314 Mississippi County votes and Chuck Banks netted 943 words.

In the race for state representative for District 149 which includes Mississippi, Pemiscot and New Madrid Counties, Donnie Brown was unopposed and received 3,771 votes in Mississippi County.

Also running unopposed were Zac Horack for Circuit Judge of the 33rd Circuit, 3,731 votes; Mitch Pullen for Mississippi County First District Commissioner, 1,458 votes; Darrell Jones for Mississippi County Second District Commissioner, 2,448 votes; Britton Ferrell for Mississippi County Sheriff, 3,822 votes; Lisa Finley Norton, Mississippi County assessor, 3,905 votes; Terry A. Parker, Mississippi County coroner, 3,924 votes; and Melissa Davis, Mississippi County Public Administrator, 3,794 votes.

State Judges

Mississippi County vote totals for retaining Missouri judges included: Kelly C. Broniec, 3,046 yes votes and 843 no votes; Ginger K. Gooch, 2,979 yes votes and 891 no votes; Becky J.W. Borthwick, 2,999 yes votes and 860 no votes; and Jennifer R. Growcock, 3,004 yes votes and 857 no votes.

Mississippi County voters opposed all of Missouri’s constitutional amendments with the exception of Amendment No. 7. They voted 2,363 to 1,991 against Amendment No. 2; 2,819 to 1,546 against Amendment No. 3; 2,342 to 1,909 against Amendment No. 5; 2,276 to 1,835 votes against Amendment No. 6. Voters were in favor of Amendment No. 7 in a vote of 3,084 to 1,127.

Voters also supported Proposition A with a vote of 2,251 to 2,050.
