Local precincts see high voter turnout in Tuesday election

SIKESTON —A large voter turnout kept election judges busy at precincts throughout New Madrid, Scott and Mississippi Counties during Tuesday’s General Election on Nov. 5.

According to unofficial numbers from the office of New Madrid County Clerk Amy Brown, voter turnout was 11,437 or 60.23% of eligible voters.

A total of 4,494 ballots, or 55.15%, of Mississippi County’s 8,149 registered voters cast ballots, according to Mississippi County Clerk Emily K. Pullen.

Of Scott County’s 25,693 voters, 68.36%, or 17,563 cast ballots during Tuesday’s election, according to Scott County Clerk Allen Seabaugh.
