Three inmates at Charleston prison die of natural causes
CHARLESTON, Mo. — Three Southeast Correctional Center inmates have died of apparent natural causes, according to the Charleston prison’s deputy warden.
According to Kara Shea Moody, SECC Deputy Warden of Offender Management, the three offenders were confined at SECC and died of apparent natural causes.
At 7:22 a.m. Nov. 19, SECC resident Michael Reynolds was pronounced dead at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Missouri.
Reynolds was a 73-year-old resident serving life without parole for first-degree murder and a 20-year sentence for armed criminal actions from Iron County. Reynolds was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on July 16, 1998.
At 8:07 a.m. Nov. 30, resident Michael Futrell was pronounced dead at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was a 66-year-old resident serving life without parole for first-degree murder and a 50-year sentence for armed criminal action from Cape Girardeau County. Futrell was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on March 2, 2017.
At 9:14 p.m. Monday, Dec. 2 resident Earl Cox was pronounced dead at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. Cox was a 67-year-old resident serving life without parole for first-degree murder, a seven-year sentence for first-degree sex abuse (weapon) and 40-year sentence for sodomy from St. Charles County. Cox was received in the Missouri Department of Corrections on Sept. 24, 2020.
