Dustin Shane Colbert
LILBOURN, Mo. — Dustin Shane Colbert was born on July 2, 1983, in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, to Pamela Susan Schuerenberg Colbert and David Lee Colbert. He passed away on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2024, at Lilbourn at the age of 41 years, 5 months and 15 days.
Preceding him in death was his mother, Pamela Susan Schuerenberg Colbert, on Oct. 3, 2011. On Feb. 20, 2020, in New Madrid, Missouri, he married Andrea Dawn Mooring’ she survives of home in Lilbourn.
From a very young age, Dustin knew he wanted to give back and serve the communities he loved, and he did that throughout his life as a Police officer. He started out as prison guard in Jefferson City, Missouri, before him and Andrea moved back to Bootheel of Missouri, where he served the communities of Clarkton, Cambell, Marston, Portageville and was currently working as Sheriff Deputy for the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Office as Deputy Sheriff No. 367. Dustin loved law enforcement and especially liked being part of the SWAT Team. He also served as fireman for the Lilbourn Volunteer Fire Department. Dustin’s greatest joy in life was being a father to his precious little girls, Eden and Dixie, who sadly passed away with him by his side on Dec. 17. Everyone you talked to would say two things about Dustin: first, he loved being a police officer; and second, he had two daddy’s girls who he loved very much, every minute of every day.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Andrea Colbert of Lilbourn; his father, David (Lori Nelson) of Matthews, Missouri; one brother, Dale (Amanda) Colbert of Matthews; a host of brothers and sisters in blue and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of Dustin’s and his daughters’ lives with full honors will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2024, with visitation beginning at 11 a.m. followed by memorial service at 1 p.m. at the New Madrid Baptist Church, with a procession to Mounds Park Cemetery.
DeLisle Funeral Home of Portageville is in charge of arrangements.
