EAST PRAIRIE, Mo. — Multiple agencies are fighting a fire in downtown East Prairie, and East Prairie Fire is asking the public to avoid the scene.

“Multiple agencies are coming in and out,” East Prairie Fire Department said in a message released at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11 via the Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office. “Do not block the fire trucks and personnel because you want to see what's going on. Stay at least one or two blocks away. That means vehicles and people. We don't want anybody hurt or in the way.”

About 6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, East Prairie Fire responded to the report of a structure fire with a possible entrapment in the 200 block of East Main Street in downtown East Prairie. East Prairie Fire requested assistance, and responding agencies include Sikeston Department of Public Safety’s Fire Division, Charleston Fire, Portageville Fire and Matthews Fire.
