Following is an update of the crop insurance article I emailed out last week. I have included examples for corn, cotton, and rice with soybeans as the alternative crop that can be planted. After the Prevented Planting section are tables that give the net returns over variable costs for prevented planting (PP), 35% PP and plant soybeans after the late planting period, 0% PP and plant soybeans during the late planting period, and 0% PP and keep the crop but at a lower yield.
