I’m certain most of the community is aware of the fatality accident that occurred on Saturday, Feb. 29. For the people involved, I have little doubt that this day will ever be forgotten. As I stated in the news release, we requested Missouri State Highway Patrol to investigate that incident and I do not intend to talk about the details of the accident here. We will wait for the official findings of that inquiry and will respond appropriately when those facts are brought forth...

What’s wrong with gas stations in Sikeston? This last weekend, Feb. 22, we bought gas in Dexter for $2.05 and Sunday we saw gas in Matthews for $2.09. Sikeston stations are all $2.29. It is continually like this. We all should show them we don’t have to buy in Sikeston. I won’t buy here anymore no matter what the price. Payroll tax executive sentenced for role in $9 million scheme which included defrauding Sikeston business

ST. LOUIS — An Indiana man was sentenced for defrauding several businesses, one of which was a Sikeston business. According to a release from the U.S. Attorney’s Eastern District Office, David L. Downey, 51, of Indianapolis, Indiana, was sentenced to 72 months in prison for federal charges stemming from his scheme to defraud which caused losses of $9.4 million to clients of his payroll service business and the Internal Revenue Service...

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Jerry Alvin Hampton, 74, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, died Monday, March 9, 2020, at Southeast Hospital. He was born April 25, 1945, in Pascola, Missouri, to Alvin Frederick and Gloria Jean Byrd Hampton. He and Betty Tanner were married June 12, 1965, at Sikeston, Missouri.
