Heartbreak in New Madrid as fire devastates family home

NEW MADRID, Mo. — Friends and family search through debris at the home of Jim and Debbie Russell, 1300 Davis St. in New Madrid, Wednesday afternoon following a fire which destroyed the home. The New Madrid Fire Department was assisted in containing the blaze by personnel from the Lilbourn and Portageville Fire Departments. Local fire personnel remained on the scene until mid-afternoon dousing hot spots.
