SIKESTON — A three-vehicle crash resulted in serious injuries for one person early Monday, March 10 in Sikeston.

Just before 8 a.m. Monday, officers with Sikeston Department of Public Safety responded to the intersection of Malone and Ingram within city limits of Sikeston in reference to a multiple-car crash, according to Sgt. Tyler Rowe, public information officer for Sikeston DPS.

“One of our officers was near the intersection at the time of the time of crash and was able to quickly update other officers as to the severity of the crash,” Rowe said. “The officer first on scene advised an occupant of one of the vehicles involved had been ejected. Our officer was able to quickly relay information to our communications and to the responding ambulances of the status of the individual ejected.”

The identity of the individuals involved in the crash are not being released at this time.

“We do know that a total of three vehicles were involved in the crash and due to the crash being at the intersection of Malone and Ingram, the roadway was shut down for a period of time,” Rowe said Monday afternoon in a press release.

A section of Malone Avenue was shut down from Ingram to Linn streets in order to allow first responders to safely treat, investigate and clear the intersection of the vehicles involved, Rowe said.

The current medical status of the individual who was ejected from the vehicle is not being released at this time, but the individual was transported by local EMS units and transferred to the care of Air Evac to be flown to a hospital for further treatment.
