Sikeston declares February as American Heart Month to combat heart disease

SIKESTON — Sikeston Mayor Greg Turnbow proclaimed on Feb. 24 the month of February as American Heart Month in Sikeston to encourage the community to get involved and recognize the importance of the prevention of heart disease. Each year heart disease kills 700,000 Americans. Sikeston’s Lincoln University Cooperative Extension will host a health promotion and education training to discuss heart disease on Feb. 28.
