JACKSON, Mo. — Patricia McCoy, 54, formerly of Sikeston, died April 24, 2019, in Jackson. Born Dec. 25, 1964, in Sikeston, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth Joe Parker Sr. and Mella Parker.

SIKESTON — Betty Jean Brase, 92, died April 24, 2019, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. Born Nov. 7, 1926, in Cape Girardeau, she was the daughter of the late Martin Louis and Edna Keeton Brase. She loved bingo, card games and marbles. She was a 50-year member of First Church of God on Emerald Street in Cape Girardeau, where she was a greeter, member of the ladies group, choir, helped with church dinners and opened her home for bible study groups. ...

Born Sept. 19, 1962, in Sikeston, daughter of Virginia Ruth Matthews O’Dell of New Madrid and the late Charles W. O’Dell, she attended Full Gospel Church in East Prairie.                    ...

BENTON, Mo. (AP) — A Missouri county trying to recruit new firefighters is getting real with its sales pitch, saying in signs posted outside its stations that the job offers “Hard Labor, Odd Hours, Low Pay (and) Cool Helmets!!” KFVS-TV reports that the Scott County Rural Fire Protection District’s chief, Jeremy Perrien, says most advertisements are “kind of boring.” He says that’s why they “wanted to add some humor to it” and “try to catch people’s attention.” The fire district posted a picture of the help wanted message on its Facebook page this week.. ...

Darrion Wells is charged with felony unlawful possession of a firearm, felony resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony and misdemeanor unlawful use of a weapon by discharging along a highway, according to online court records...
