Two cited for disturbing peace; prowler is identified

Tuesday, February 9, 2021

NEW MADRID, Mo. - At approximately 3:45 p.m. Jan. 29., officers responded to the 400 block of Vandenvender for a large fight in the courtyard of a public housing complex.

When officers arrived they found a man with a small wound to his head, but later found that he was the aggressor in the incident. He and a family member had assaulted a man after an argument broke out over a child in the complex.

No one was seriously injured in the disturbance but a man and a woman were each cited for peace disturbance by fighting.

On the morning of Feb. 4 several calls were received about a prowler in the area of St. Christopher and also in the area of St. Lawrence. The subject was caught on surveillance on St. Lawrence, and was later identified as a runaway juvenile, who had been missing the night before. The missing juvenile was found later in the night.

The prowler in the area of St. Christopher has not been identified but officers have been providing extra patrol in the area the last few nights.

There are police officers on-duty in the city 24-hours-a-day, and if you think you hear or see someone outside your house at night please call 911 immediately. The quicker the police are notified, the better the chance the police will be able to catch and identify them.
