Second burglary suspect now in custody
NEW MADRID, Mo. - On the night of Nov. 7, an officer responded to an apartment on Blades Drive for a domestic disturbance.
When he arrived the officer spoke to both parties and both agreed that it was only verbal altercation. Neither wanted to press charges.
However, the woman had previously obtained a full order of protection against her boyfriend and the order was still active. The man was placed under arrest for violation of a protective order and transported to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department for booking.
In October, a burglary at a house on Vandenvender Street was reported. One of the suspects was arrested within a few days of the incident, but another has been at large since.
On Nov. 8, an officer at Casey’s thought he saw the suspect in a vehicle at the gas pumps. Another officer familiar with the man pulled up and recognized him, and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
At the time of his arrest, the man had several plastic baggies in his pocket that tested positive for methamphetamine. He was placed under arrest for burglary and possession of a controlled substance and transported to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department.
