Woman banned from store after stealing
NEW MADRID, Mo. - On the afternoon of Dec. 14, a citizen called after watching someone steal from a local grocery store.
The witness said a woman went to the meat counter and got meat then walked around the store picking up several other items. She then hid them under her jacket and walked out the front door.
An officer went to the store and found the woman on camera stealing the items, then later that afternoon located her in the area of Main Street. Store management did not want to prosecute at that time but requested that she be banned from the store.
On December 20, a shoplifting call was received at Dollar General where someone saw a woman take some items then sneak out the back door of the store.
One officer checked the stores surveillance cameras while another searched the area for the suspected shoplifter. A short time later he found the woman with several items from the store.
The officers determined the suspect was the same woman who had shoplifted from the grocery store the week before. This time was issued a summons to appear in city court on a charge of shoplifting.
