Incident at Taster’s broken up by officers
NEW MADRID, Mo. - On Feb. 20 at around 9 p.m., officers responded to a disturbance in the parking lot of Taster’s Restaurant.
The 911 caller said that several people were involved and at least one was armed with a gun. When officers arrived, one man had another at gunpoint and both were detained while the scene was secured.
After talking to numerous witnesses, officers learned that the incident began with teenagers arguing in the parking lot. An adult female got involved and threatened several people with a knife, which caused a teenager to go to his vehicle and get a gun.
After several hours of interviewing witnesses, an officer forwarded two probable cause affidavits to the New Madrid County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
On the afternoon of Feb. 27, the police and fire departments responded to the south New Madrid overpass for a traffic crash with injury. A man changing a flat tire on an RV was severely injured when a truck crashed into the back of the RV.
The fire department set up a landing zone on top of the overpass where a Survival Flight helicopter loaded the patient and transported him to a Memphis hospital.
