Drug arrests made; illegal dumping is enforced
NEW MADRID, Mo. - On March 14, officers received information about possible drug activity on St. Thomas in New Madrid.
By the next day, a search warrant was served at the house and two people were arrested. Officers found several marijuana plants being cultivated in a bedroom, as well as a small amount of methamphetamine, numerous illegal prescription drugs, and several items of drug paraphernalia.
All of the evidence was seized and the two occupants were later charged with cultivation of marijuana and several felony counts of possession of a controlled substance.
Over the last week, officers have written numerous citations related to illegal dumping and trespassing at the city dumpsters on Bloomfield Road. Just as a reminder, it is illegal to dump trash on the ground at the dumpsite - it must go in the dumpsters.
In addition, it is illegal for anyone to get inside the dumpsters for any reason. Anyone found going inside the dumpster or taking anything out of dumpster will be charged with trespassing.
