Burglary, domestic assault reported June 14
NEW MADRID, Mo. - In the early morning of June 14, an officer responded to Happy Lane for a reported burglary and assault.
When he arrived, the victim told him her ex-boyfriend had broken in and chased her out of the house into the street. She said the man started punching her, but after some of her neighbors came outside, the man fled from the area.
The officer took a report and it will be forwarded to the New Madrid County Prosecutor’s office for the filing of formal charges for burglary and domestic assault.
Around 10 a.m. June 14, an officer on Pinnell Lane saw a man that he believed had a warrant for his arrest. When the officer confirmed the man had a warrant out of Sikeston, he stopped the car the man was driving and placed him under arrest.
In addition to the warrant, the officer found that the subject’s driver’s license was revoked and that he was also a noncompliant sex offender who had failed to keep his registration current. The man also refused to give the officer his current address, which is a violation of his sex offender status.
The subject was arrested and transported to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department for booking. He was later charged with failure to register as a sex offender and felony driving while revoked.
