Vehicle break-ins under investigation
NEW MADRID, Mo. - On the morning of Sept. 22, several reports were taken in the area of Ramsey Lane in reference to vehicle break-ins.
Overnight someone had gotten into unlocked cars in the neighborhood but few items were reported missing. On Sept. 24, a resident’s camera caught a man walking onto their porch in the middle of the night, and it’s believed he may be involved in the break-ins.
He has been identified and in addition to being wanted for questioning about the thefts, the man has several active warrants for his arrest. The investigation is ongoing.
On the night of Sept. 23, New Madrid County Central High School played football at Caruthersville, and a shooting occurred on the property after the game.
School administrators, coaches and the police in Caruthersville did a good job of getting our players and staff in the locker room and secured until they could get on a bus. An NMCC school resource officer, a New Madrid officer and a New Madrid County deputy went to Caruthersville to ensure all of our players were safe and accounted for, then escorted the bus back to New Madrid.
The police in Caruthersville were busy helping the victim of the shooting and looking for the suspect, and our officers have a responsibility to protect our residents, no matter where they are.
