Man arrested after stabbing mother in domestic disturbance
NEW MADRID, Mo. - On the afternoon of Oct. 5, officers responded to an address on Mott Street for a domestic disturbance where someone had been stabbed.
When they arrived, the victim said she and her adult son had an argument and he stabbed her in the abdomen with a small knife. There was a small puncture wound on the woman’s side that broke the skin, but she refused treatment from EMS.
The man was in his bedroom and was taken into custody without incident. He complained about a cut on his hand from the knife and was later transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center for treatment.
While he was in the emergency room, a warrant was issued for his arrest and he was transported to the Mississippi County Jail when he was released from the hospital.
On Oct. 8, an officer responded to the area of Maple Street and Dawson Road for a break-in.
The complainant said someone had gotten into a truck and went through everything. He also said the suspect had gone into a shed and took several items and had been caught leaving the property. In addition, the complainant had video footage of the suspect on the property going into buildings and vehicles.
A short time later, the officer found the suspect in the backyard of a house in the area and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Mississippi County Jail and later charged with second degree burglary with no bond.
