Area man is arrested for indecent exposure

On the morning of Jan. 12, officers responded to a business on Highway 61 for indecent exposure.

An employee at the business said a man came through the front door and exposed himself to workers there. When told to leave the man started walking around the counter toward the woman, but then turned around and left.

When police arrived, the woman was able to give a description of the suspect and she wrote down his license plate number as he left the parking lot. Officers along with New Madrid County deputies responded to the man’s address in Howardville and found a vehicle matching the description the victim had given.

Officers made contact with the man, who first denied that he had been in New Madrid. He finally admitted that he had been in the business earlier and did expose himself to the employees there.

The man was placed under arrest and transported to the New Madrid County Sheriff’s Department for booking. He is currently on parole for robbery and was later charged with sexual misconduct for the incident in New Madrid.
