Citzen’s report of gunshots fired leads to man’s arrest arrest
NEW MADRID, Mo. — On Feb. 19, shortly after midnight, officers received a call about gunshots in the area of Old Kingshighway.
An officer on his way to the scene saw a vehicle matching the description given by a witness, so he initiated a stop on the car. During a search of the car, a handgun was found inside and the driver was placed under arrest for unlawful use of a weapon.
He was initially placed in the Mississippi County Jail, but has been released pending filing of formal charges.
On the afternoon of Feb. 20, an officer responded to the 400 block of Vandenvender for a fight in progress. When the officer arrived, she found a girl sitting on the ground with lacerations to her face.
The juvenile said she had gotten into an argument with her sister at the park and they got in a fight in the front yard when they got home. The officer found the girl’s sister in the house, also with injuries to her face.
Both girls were transported to Missouri Delta Medical Center for treatment and the incident was referred to the New Madrid County Juvenile Office.
