Guns seized, two arrested at fight
NEW MADRID, Mo. - In the early morning hours of March 12, officers were called to Blades Drive about a disturbance involving a large crowd.
When the first officer pulled in at approximately 4:30 a.m. several cars were trying to leave the area, and he was able to block in two of them. After speaking to people in the crowd, it was learned there was an altercation earlier in the night at Marston and the crowd had moved to Blades Drive in New Madrid to confront a resident there. A fight broke out and at least one person was armed with a gun, but it is unclear if shots were fired.
Two people were arrested and jailed on pending charges and three guns were seized at the scene. More charges have been requested on other participants in the fight.
On the afternoon of March 12, officers responded to a house on Mott Street for an assault. The victim had several injuries and a severe laceration to the side of his face and later sought medical treatment.
The suspect was found at another house a short time later and was taken into custody without incident. He was placed in the Mississippi County Jail and assault charges are pending.
