Man leads officers on foot chase, now faces more charges
NEW MADRID, Mo. - On the morning of March 28, officers were called to the area of Happy Lane to check for a man with several arrest warrants.
An anonymous caller said they saw the man go into a home on Happy Lane and when the officers pulled up they saw the man crawl out of a back window and run south toward Tasters. After a short foot chase, the man was caught in the Villa Shopping Center.
The suspect had a felony warrant for possession of a controlled substance and when searched officers found methamphetamine in his pocket. He was transported to the Mississippi County Jail and later charged with possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest.
On the afternoon of March 31, officers responded to Dollar General for a disturbance.
When officers arrived a woman told them she was standing in line to check out when a woman behind her started screaming and punching her in the back of the head. The suspect then ran out of the store and left in a white car before the police arrived.
A probable cause affidavit for assault was forwarded to the New Madrid County Prosecutor’s Office for the filing of formal charges.
