One taken into custody by local police officer following disturbance

Wednesday, December 6, 2023

NEW MADRID, Mo. — On the morning of Dec. 2, an officer responded to a residence in the 400 block of Pinnell Lane for a disturbance. When he got to the house he found that two men who live at the house had been in an argument, and one of them had damaged the inside of the house during the fight.

Both subjects were checked for warrants, and the man who had damaged the property had warrants for his arrest. He was taken into custody for the warrants, and has charges pending for second degree property damage.

In the early morning hours of Dec. 3, an officer responded to a house on Kingshighway for a possible break-in. The complainant said he heard a noise inside the house, and when he walked out of the bedroom he found a man standing in his kitchen.

The suspect, who had entered through an unlocked window, fled the scene in an unknown direction. The suspect unintentionally left property at the scene that allowed officers to identify him and he was found walking on Vandenvender at 2:30 p.m.

The suspect was arrested and jailed on charges of first degree burglary and stealing.
