Trespassing charges are filed against two
NEW MADRID, Mo. - On the morning of Dec. 31, the fire department was called for mutual aid to State Highway V near Matthews for a trailer on fire at a job site. Matthews Fire Department initially knocked the fire down, and firefighters from both departments worked for several hours extinguishing fire inside the ceiling and around a heating unit. Fire departments from Matthews, New Madrid and Miner were at the scene for approximately three hours.
An officer responded to the 400 block of Main Street for prowlers near a business on the morning of Jan. 5.
The officer found a man and woman matching the description walking on Mill Street away from the area and the business owner had both of them on camera behind the business standing next to a “No Trespassing” sign. The man and woman were both given a summons to appear in city court for first degree trespassing.
