CHARLESTON, MO. — Charleston Department of Public Safety reported the following activity from Oct. 27-Nov. 2. An arrest, or the issuance of a citation, does not imply guilt.

The agency responded to 123 calls for service last week; a summary of the reports generated follows.

An officer was sent to East Prairie for an officer in need of assistance call.

An officer investigated a theft of cash from Citizens Bank. Wilbert McCain, 66, of Charleston was later arrested and charged with burglary and stealing. He was placed in jail. Some of the money stolen has been recovered. Evidence collected also linked McCain to other crimes and additional charges are pending. The Mississippi County Sheriff’s Office and the Board of Probation and Parole assisted.

Joshua Harvey, 39, of Charleston, was arrested on a traffic warrant. He was placed in jail.

Extra officers were assigned to patrol for the Halloween activities.

Property was reported damaged at 611 East Commercial Street.

An officer investigated a report of a 13-year-old male who was shot in the 300 block of South Green Street. The juvenile was treated and released at a local hospital. The investigation indicated the shooting was accidentally self-inflicted.
