It’s time to talk 2018 Community Thanksgiving Dinner
(Letter to the Editor ~ 09/28/18)
Fifteen years ago, Beverly Baker gave me the opportunity to take over the Community Thanksgiving Dinner. I have never been sorry that I said yes or more proud that I could be the one whom she chose. Every year I thank God that I have the health and stamina to carry on. I am so blessed to have good volunteers to help; otherwise, I could never make it happen. Last year our numbers decreased from the previous year, but we were still able to feed 738 meals, 668 being delivered into the community by volunteers who cared enough to give up a portion of their holiday to give someone else the opportunity to enjoy a traditional meal they otherwise would not have. These volunteers show up year after year to be a part of this endeavor. We couldn’t serve this community and surrounding area without their help. They are awesome people! My angels in street clothes.
