BENTON - A Chaffee man committed suicide Friday as officers were attempting to arrest him. According to Assistant Scott County Prosecutor Paul Boyd, 14 felony charges were filed against G.C. Harrell Jr., 54. The charges included eight counts of statutory sodomy, four counts of promoting child pornography and two counts of sexual misconduct involving a child. The charges came about after a detailed investigation involving the Chaffee Police Department...

A Sikeston man was injured in a one-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on U.S. 61, one mile south of Sikeston. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol the accident occurred at 2:45 p.m. when Antionio Applewhite, 25, was passing on the right shoulder, lost control of the northbound vehicle he was driving and overturned in a field. Applewhite sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston by a personal vehicle....
