Cultural terrorist are eroding our values

Saturday, September 13, 2014

Just this past week, a lieutenant colonel in the Army was turned away from his daughter's high school because he was wearing his uniform on the school campus.

In Chicago, four firefighters were suspended for refusing to remove American flag stickers from their helmets and lockers.

In Washington, D.C., public schools - a filthy wasteland if there ever was one - students were required to write an essay comparing former President George W. Bush to Adolph Hitler.

If this is the new America, I'm not so sure I belong. Perhaps you feel the same.

It's too easy to blame our current national obsession of political correctness for these three isolated incidents.

The problem goes much deeper.

The fact is, there are those who are trying desperately to change the very foundation of this great nation. They seek to rewrite history in their own image

This week, as we remember the tragedy of Sept. 11, 2001, we have drifted away from the values that we once held.

Like everyone else, of course, I am concerned over the Mideast mess, the lagging economy, the impending crisis of Obamacare, etc. Truth is, there are far too many legitimate concerns to address.

But much more frightening to me are those changes that often occur under the radar like shunning a member of the United States military in uniform from a public school.

Here's my question.

On the three examples above, what compelled someone to make these bone-headed decisions? Why would firefighters be banned from displaying American flag stickers on their lockers? And who gave the order to stop a military man from entering his daughter's school?

And though the teacher who gave the Bush/Hitler assignment has apologized, what in the world would motivate her to make that decision in the first place?

National values are not changed overnight. They are eroded little by little, step by step until one day you awaken and the America you knew no longer exists.

The courts have taken prayer out of school and patriotism is somehow being eliminated. We're spending precious resources to assure that illegal immigrants have their "emotional needs" met while ignoring the honest to goodness needs of hard working Americans.

While it's understandable to be concerned about terrorism, a different form - let's call it cultural terrorism - is collapsing American values at break neck speed.

We fight wars to save the American way of life. We shed blood to assure that our children and grandchildren have the same freedoms and opportunities that were handed to us.

But the real enemies are those from within who seek to change and eliminate and alter and reform those values long held precious by the American people.
