FLORISSANT -- Pallbearers for services held Sunday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel for Helen Ruth Abernathy, 88, who died on Oct. 2, 2008, were: Daryl Tubbs, Darin Tubbs, David Abernathy, Johnathan Mach, Adam Sinnard and Bill Paxton.

CHARLESTON -- Patsy Merryman, 70, formerly of East Prairie, died at 6:50 p.m. Oct. 5, 2008, at the Charleston Manor Skilled Nursing Center. Arrangements are incomplete with Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie.

BERTRAND -- Susie Jones, 99, formerly of Wickliffe, Ky., died at 4:10 a.m. Oct. 5, 2008, at the Bertrand Retirement Home. Daughter of the late Samuel and Mary Ella Miles Douglas, she was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Wickliffe and a housewife...

CHAFFEE -- Billy Joe Todd, 77, died at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 4, 2008, at the Chaffee Nursing Center. Born Oct. 2, 1931, at Oran, to the late Elree and Elizabeth Kaylor Todd, he had worked as a lineman for the Union Pacific Railroad and later retired from Boatman's Bank in St. Louis where he was a security guard. A veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Korean War, he was of the Baptist belief...

SIKESTON -- Raymond Charles Leible Sr., 93, died at 6:10 p.m. Oct. 4, 2008, at his home. Born Jan. 20, 1915, in Kelso, to the late William Theodore and Emma Bertha Goetz Leible, he was a retired J I Case farm implement dealer. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and a charter member of Council 3151 of the Knights of Columbus...

ORAN -- Senior Day was unkind to the Oran Lady Eagles on Saturday as they fell to the visiting Cape Central Lady Tigers 4-3 in seven innings. Oran committed five errors which eventually led to their own defeat. Oran head coach Sara Heisserer was disappointed with the outcome of the weekend contest, especially in the defensive department as she said that the five errors led to the four runs. The fourth run proved to be the difference as the Lady Eagles couldn't manage a comeback late in the game...
