New Madrid County R-1 held a "Beginning Teacher" workshop on July 24, 2014. The meeting began with a welcome from Dr. Cindy Amick, superintendent of schools. The Portageville Jaycees were re-established over the summer and have already held two fundraising events. During the month of August, the Jaycees hosted two pool tournaments and raised over $1400. The first tournament was hosted by Klipfel's Korner of Portageville.
