SIKESTON -- One person is in custody after his girlfriend was found dead in a home in Sikeston on Friday. At around 11 a.m. Friday, officers with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety received information about a possible dead body in the basement of 867 Stanford. CANALOU -- Kenneth Wayne Williams, 57, died Sept. 2 2012, at his home. Born March 30, 1955, in Sikeston, son of Lillian Brewer Williams of Sikeston and the late Charles Williams, he served in the U.S. Navy. He married Rebecca Hasty who survives. Other survivors include: one son, Levi Colt Williams of the home; one daughter, Kenon Dawson of the home; two brothers, Tim Williams of Sikeston and John Williams of Parkersburg, Va; two sisters, Cathy Holyfield of Jackson and Pam Clifton of East Moline, Ill.; and two grandchildren.. ...

COLUMBIA -- Frieda Mae Yates, 94, died Sept. 5, 2012, at The Bluffs Nursing Home in Columbia. Born Aug. 19, 1918, in Puxico, to the late William and Anna Katherine Lenox Wilkerson, she had lived most of her life in Dudley and Puxico and she and her husband had owned and operated Yates Grocery near Dudley. For the past 45 years, she had been a member of the First General Baptist Church in Puxico where she was a Sunday school teacher, Bible school teacher and the secretary-clerk for 29 years...
