Experiencing loss

Thursday, January 16, 2020

As I was thinking about the sermons for February at First Baptist, I began to think of the beautiful brothers and sisters in our church that have experienced loss and sadness. These are faithful followers of Jesus that are finding it very challenging as they experience loss. That loss comes in the form of the body betraying them with age, friends and family passing and moving, and the changing of our nation. Loss is not easy, but there are three great places to go when we experience loss. First, Jesus is a Savoir that will be there through all the valleys. Second, the Bible is God’s Word that provides comfort and direction. Third, church is a place to be encouraged by Biblical based sermons and the family of God. Today, you may be experiencing lose, but remember: “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” (1 Peter 5:7)

Did you know the book of Psalm has 150 chapters that is broken into five sections (1-41, 42-72, 73-89, 90-106, 107-150)? The Psalms are primarily prayers by people of God. Although there are many different authors, the second king of Israel David wrote the most.
