Have you ever felt scared and helpless?
Have you ever felt scared and helpless? David did many times. In Psalm 18:4-5 he wrote, “The sorrows of death compassed me, and the floods of ungodly men made me afraid. The sorrows of hell compassed me about: the snares of death prevented me.” David references a situation he experienced that was so terrifying. We know from the context, that he was facing difficult enemies. He did not let the fear control him and called on God. In verse six he wrote, “In my distress I called upon the LORD, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.” The beauty of this is the Lord heard him and acted. Today, if you are scared or facing an impossible situation call on the Lord.
Did you know that the book of Daniel was written during the Babylonian Captivity? The nation of Babylon took many of the Jews and artifacts from the Temple back to their nation in early 600 BC. From the captives, King Nebuchadnezzar took the young men and educated them into the Babylonian system. There were four men mentioned from Daniel that would not succumb to the pressure to defile them with this evil pagan culture. Read more about this in Daniel.
