Excited about Christmas play
We are definitely excited about the Quarantine Christmas Musical Comedy happening this weekend at First Baptist and Old Bethel Baptist. Be sure and come out for this incredible Christmas event or watch online (First Baptist on Facebook).
Did you get your Christmas tree and put the candles on it? Obviously we don’t use a tree for candles, but this is all rooted in the history of the Christmas tree. We have to go back to the time of Martin Luther in Germany around the 16th century. Legend has it that he was thinking of the Lord and working on a sermon. On the way home, he was struck with the beautiful stars in the evergreens. Suddenly he got an idea, raised home, and without his family knowing set to work. After he finished his family saw that there was a tree in the living room and Martin had put candles on it (to represent the stars). I am sure the children were so happy and amazed, but I am not sure his wife would have been. Here are some of the beautiful truths we remember from the Christmas tree. It is always green and that reminds us God’s love is always. God is triune meaning he is one being, but three persons (Father, Son, Holy Ghost) and the tree has three points. Finally, some traditions are good to continue, but not candles on the tree as that’s a fire hazard.
