Snow can teach about Christ

Friday, February 19, 2021

We moved back to the greatest state in America December 2019 from Michigan. We were saying, “Praise God we are leaving this snow and cold temperatures behind” (actually it was my family saying that as I love snow).

Earlier this week as I checked the temperature in Detroit vs. Sikeston, I thought you don’t see that every day. It was colder here than Detroit! Isaiah 1:18- ”Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.”

The prophet Isaiah is predicting what God would do through the Messiah several hundred years later. Sins would be like snow…let’s think about this. It is sad that in our day the color white has been hijacked as a “racist” color, but that is not the meaning. God is using this verse to say that sins will be wiped clean through the blood of Jesus.

First, sin causes us to be marked with impurity, mortality, and death. Jesus cleanses us from all our sin. Colossians 1:14 ”In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:”

Second, how do you see yourself in Christ? Too many people look at themselves as “broken”, “prisoners of your past”, and all the terrible things you have done.

If you are Christians look at how God sees you… you are white as snow. You are clean and pure before God.

Today, even if you hate the snow remember what it can teach us about Christ.
