GriefShare is available to all
One day I was listening to an interview of a famous scientist on the radio. He was so bold and funny and explained about his latest book. He was one confident man, but there was one subject that made him scared… death.
Truly death is one of those subjects we avoid at all cost. Hebrew 9:27: “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:”
First, realize the Bible says everyone will die (there is no reincarnation). We all live and will go to two places (heaven or hell).
You must trust Christ and not your works, religion or anything else (you do not get to God by doing good works). Romans 3:20- “Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.”
I trust that you have made that decision to trust Jesus Christ.
Another area that death touches is grief. Grief is that deep emotional journey everyone experiences from one degree or another from losing someone or something. Some of the symptoms of grief can be deep sadness, hopelessness, depression, physical and mental challenges, and even the extreme of contemplating suicide.
In summary, GRIEF is tough. We have a man in our church that just told me he could do about anything and nothing really took him down, but his wife passing away did. He was suicidal and at a very low point, but God and an incredible program called Grief Share provided him the tools and support to learn how to grieve in a healthy way.
This program allowed him to understand the stages of grief and get real empathy support from people who are were experiencing grief. The individual and a team have decided there are others who can relate and need help with grief.
They will begin the new free Grief Share program starting next Tuesday at 1:30 or 6 p.m. at First Baptist (it is open to everyone not matter your belief or church). The best news ever is if you are reading this and grieving don’t do it alone. COME NEXT TUESDAY.
