When you trust Christ you are born again

Thursday, October 7, 2021

I just heard a story about a man in Turkey. After spending an evening with some friends, he ended up not coming home.

After a while his family went to the authorities, and they started looking for him in the forest by where he was last seen. It was not long before a man noticed the people in the woods looking for the lost soul and he decided to join them.

All of them were yelling and working really hard to find the man. Suddenly one of them yelled the man’s name and the man who had joined them said, “I am here!” You guessed it he had joined his own search party.

As crazy as that is, think about the person that is in Christ and spends their life trying to find themselves. As a Christian, you don’t have to keep being restless and look for something as when you trust Christ, you are truly born again and a new creation.

2 Corinthians 5:17- “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”

When you are a Christian, you do not work to get the new creation, you are the person the moment you are born again. The journey of the Christian faith is walking the new life out and growing. There are three ways you grow. First, be in Church with other Christians who will spur you on.

Second, read and study the Bible every day.

Third, tell others how to become a Christian. Paul beautifully summarized that, “Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.” (Philippians 3:12)

He reminds us to keep going everyday to walk out what Christ has for you. If you do this, then you will find yourself not being lost, growing, and knowing who you are. The place this all begins is by believing in Jesus Christ.

John 3:36 explains, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”

Have a great Cotton Carnival and look for me driving our church’s bus (First Baptist Church).

Don’t forget that this Sunday is the continuation of the Bible course called “End Times 101.” This short 5 week course will give you insight into the Bible’s teaching about the end times. Come to First Baptist Church (1101 N. Main) to learn more this Sunday at 6 p.m. (fbcsikesotn.org).
