Learn about the Bible
The Bible has 66 books and is divided into two sections that are the Old Testament and New Testament. It was written over 1400 years by over 40 authors. It is divided by subjects with the first five books being the Law, the next books (Joshua to Esther) are the history books and is followed by the Poetry Books (Job to Song of Songs).
The Major Prophets (Isaiah to Daniel) are larger in volumn, but not more important than the next section called the Minor Prophets (Hosea to Malachi) which are smaller.
Between the Old and New Testament is 400 years of no new books or called the silent period. The first four books of the New Testament are the Gospels (meaning good news) which are Matthew, Mark, Luke and John that tells about the life of Jesus.
The book of Acts gives the history of the first church. Then there are epistles or letters written to individual churches from different apostles.
The final book is Revelation (no s at the end) that tells the details of the end of the world.
One acronym for the Bible is “Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth.”
Most reading this article know the importance of the Bible and probably have multiple Bibles at home. It is critical that the Bible is learned!
If you are someone who has yearned for the opportunity to learn the Bible for yourself, you are not alone. Statistically 90% of Americas own a Bible, but less than 12% have read it in its entirety.
If you are one of those people but want to know the Bible then come this Sunday at 5:30 p.m. to First Baptist. We will be hosting an author who wrote the book called the Essence.
This book takes readers through a journey to understand the entire message of the Bible. You won’t want to miss this great opportunity to hear the author John Pasquet who is from Ellsinore (living presently in Columbia) open the treasures, mystery and message of the Bible in an exciting way everyone can grasp.
The seminar is free and open to the public. Remember it is 5:30 p.m. this Sunday at First Baptist Church (1101 N. Main St.). Further, the place to start if you have not read the Bible is start by making sure you are saved and reading Mark (16 chapters). In conclusion, you can learn the Bible and now do it!!!
