XMAS doesn't take the Christ out of Christmas
With Christmas we celebrate the baby born in Bethlehem (first advent), but let’s also remember the second advent or his return (second advent).
What is your favorite song or symbol at Christmas? Mine might XMAS. I know many of us think that when we see XMAS, we assume that people have tried to take Christ out of Christmas. Although some might think and desire that action, that could not be father from the truth.
X is the first Greek letter for Christos or Christ.* Christ is the word for anointed or Messiah as in the promised one of God. When I think of XMAS, I think of a life that is 100% sold out to Christ.
Traditionally when people would die for serving Christ, the place where they perished the early Christians would mark with an X. This meant they had given all the baby born in Bethlehem.
This month when you see XMAS instead of getting mad, use it as an opportunity to assess your commitment to Christ.
This Christmas and beyond may our lives reflect the life of the Martyrs during the Tribulation. Although we may not be killed for our faith, may our commitment to Christ be the highest in our lives.
“And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.” (Revelation 12:11)
With that, Merry XMAS!
Also, if you are desiring to add a treasure Sunday (the 12th) at 6 p.m. published author, professional motivational speaker, and singer John Nimmo will be haring a concert at First Baptist. Come and be a part.
*The New Testament or second part of the Bible was written in Greek.
